data-mm-id=”_1jt72sg5r”>Aaron Rodgers found himself in the political waters this week thanks to a New York Times report revealing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was considering Rodgers as his running mate for his independent presidential campaign. The New York Jets quarterback was reported to be open to the overtures RFK Jr. made and the story took off from there. On Wednesday, CNN changed the tenor of the whole conversation by reporting a disturbing conversation between Rodgers and one of the network's reporters, Pamela Brown, from 2013. Brown met Rodgers at the Kentucky Derby that year and the quarterback allegedly claimed the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting that resulted in the death of 20 children and six adults was actually a hoax. Brown and Jake Tapper further reported that Rodgers had that conversation with another source as well. Per the article: Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has confirmed that among his potential vice-presidential prospects is New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who in private conversations shared deranged conspiracy theories about the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting not being real.CNN knows of two people with whom Rodgers has enthusiastically shared these stories, including with Pamela Brown, one of the journalists writing this piece.Brown was covering the Kentucky Derby for CNN in 2013 when she was introduced to Rodgers, then with the Green Bay Packers, at a post-Derby party. Hearing that she was a journalist with CNN, Rodgers immediately began attacking the news media for covering up important stories. Rodgers brought up the tragic killing of 20 children and 6 adults by a gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School, claiming it was actually a government inside job and the media was intentionally ignoring it.These are obviously horrifying allegations and they have dominated the Rodgers discussion over the last day. On Thursday, the Jets quarterback took to Twitter to deny he said those things and to lend his support to the Sandy Hook community. As I’m on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy. I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place. Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to…— Aaron Rodgers (@AaronRodgers12) March 14, 2024As he claims, Rodgers is indeed on the record calling the shooting a tragedy. He said as much during an interview on ESPN Radio in December of 2012. Per Fox 6: On Tuesday, December 18th, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers spoke about the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. He shares what he hopes comes out of this tragedy. "I hope that we can learn from this and look for the signs more and not ever have something like this happen. And keep this on our minds. This is something that effects us directly or indirectly. This needs to be something that we learn from," said Rodgers on ESPN Radio. As is always the case, however, wording is important with Rodgers and some will note he did not deny CNN's report in his tweet. He said he has never been of the opinion that the shooting didn't take place and hopes we learn from it, but didn't specifically address any other allegations. This is relevant because a media firestorm surrounding Rodgers was sparked in 2021 when he was asked if he received the COVID-19 vaccine and he said he was "immunized." Later it was revealed he did not actually get the vaccine and insisted he did not lie at any point about it. What a messed up world we live in where this is the biggest plotline of the sports week.

Looking to extend on their Premiership purple patch on Friday night, Aberdeen will make the trip to Victoria Park when they meet Ross County.

Eventually picking up a deserved 2-0 victory away at St. Johnstone, Malky Mackay’s side also drew a line under their three-match losing run. Walter Mazzarri wants reigning Serie A champions Napoli to buck the trend of recording underwhelming results and kick on in 2024, starting with a positive result at his former club Torino on Sunday.
The Azzurri claimed a first Scudetto since 1990 last season but are now languishing down in eighth after losing four of their last seven games, with last week’s goalless draw at home to Monza summing up the current sense of malaise in Naples.
Defending their crown may look a tall order, with leaders Inter Milan already 20 points better off, but Mazzarri just wants to start delivering better performances for the fans.

Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao has requested a transfer, manager Carlos Ancelotti has revealed.

Juventus face a tough ask in returning to winning ways in Serie A when the fourth-placed Sampdoria visit Turin on Sunday.
Successive 0-0 draws have slowed the momentum of Juve, who previously won six matches in a row scoring 19 times in the process.
But their goalless stalemate against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday was crucial as it booked their place in the last 16.
Juve are the only Serie A side remaining in Europe s premier club competition and showed good character to qualify after losing two of their first three Group A matches.
They dominated an Atleti side who were happy to sit back and concede possession but lacked cutting edge something coach Massimiliano Allegri will be keen to address.
Juve caused few problems…
Mesut Ozil should be benched for Germany s second World Cup group game against Sweden, according to Stefan Effenberg.
Arsenal midfielder Ozil played the full 90 minutes as Germany slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Mexico in their Group F opener – the side s first competitive defeat since their semi-final exit from Euro 2016 when they lost 2-0 to France.
Effenberg questioned Germany head coach Joachim Low s decision not to include second-half substitute Marco Reus in his starting line-up, calling for the Borussia Dortmund man to be in from the outset against Sweden.
Low should put Ozil on the bench and bring in Marco Reus instead, Effenberg wrote in his column on t-online.de. I could not understand why Reus did not play against Mexico from the start.
