World Cup´s oldest player El Hadary saves penalty for Egypt

Egypt goalkeeper Essam El Hadary brilliantly saved a penalty on the day he became the oldest player in World Cup history.

El Hadary, 45 years and 161 days old, started the Group A dead rubber against Saudi Arabia in Volgograd on Monday, having sat on the bench for defeats to Uruguay and Russia.

The Pharaohs veteran beat the record set by Faryd Mondragon, who appeared for Colombia at Brazil 2014 three days after his 43rd birthday.

El Hadary marked his landmark occasion in sensational fashion, tipping Fahad Al Muwallad s 41st-minute penalty onto the woodwork to retain Egypt s 1-0 advantage, earned through Mohamed Salah s second goal of the tournament.

He is the second keeper to save a penalty on his World Cup debut in Russia Iceland s Hannes Thor Halldorsso…

Best Odds:

Bookmakers:

Celtic will play host to PSG, perhaps the most talked about team in football this summer, at Celtic Park on Tuesday night as they look to cause a huge upset and traverse a tricky Group B.

Celtic

Celtic haven t lost a game in Scotland (and no, that s not just at Celtic Park, that s anywhere in Scotland) since May 2016, and they won the Scottish Premier League by 30 points last season. Their level of domestic dominance is frankly astounding, and they translated this success into a place in the Champions League group stage with wins over Linfield, Rosenborg and Astana in qualification, scoring 15 goals over the six games. Unfortunately for Brendan Rodgers his side s dominance doesn t o…

Bristol City 1 Sheffield Wednesday 2: Joao brace sends Owls into play-off places

Sheffield Wednesday moved into the Championship play-off places with a 2-1 victory away at Bristol City on Sunday.

Taylor fired home from the spot with 10 minutes left after Josh Onomah brought down Callum O Dowda, leaving the travelling Wednesday fans fearing another collapse aft…

Liverpool v Man United not make-or-break, insists Mourinho

Jose Mourinho insisted Manchester United s trip to Liverpool is not make-or-break as the manager played down the consequences of Saturday s Premier League blockbuster.

United s unbeaten start to the season will be tested when Mourinho takes his side – second in the table but level on points with neighbours Manchester City – to Anfield.

The Red Devils have scored 21 goals and conceded just twice in seven matches to emerge as a contender to win their first Premier League title since 2012-13.

But Mourinho said United s season does not hinge on the result on Merseyside, where Jurgen Klopp s seventh-placed Liverpool are looking to climb the standings.

The season is made of moments of ups and downs and you cannot win every match and you have to be strong e…
