Rovers swoop for Turkish midfielder Basturk

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has made his first move in the winter transfer market by bringing in Turkish midfielder Yildiray Basturk.  Basturk, 31, has signed a short term contract that will keep him at Ewood Park till the end of the 2009-10 season.

Herne born Basturk started off with Wattenscheid 09 and moved to Bochum in 1997.  It was however at Bayer Leverkusen that he arrived on the world stage. Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has worn the same shinpads since he was eight years old, much to the amusement of his team-mates.

Herrera, 27, has made 15 Premier League appearances under Jose Mourinho this season, having joined United in mid-2014.

Arriving with him from Athletic Bilbao were his shinpads, Herrera revealing his team-mates laugh at him because of his superstition.

Chelsea are in talks with RB Leipzig about the possibility of signing Josko Gvardiol, as well as Christopher Nkunku for whom an agreement appears to be close, according to .
